This tiara, the grandest of them all, certainly one of the biggest, The Luxembourg Empire Tiara. This breathtaking tiara, owned by the grand ducal family of Luxembourg, and stands over four inches tall and is adorned with many scrolls, anthemion, and geometric scrolls. It was created in the 1800s by Jakob Tillmann Speltz. This tiara gets its name from its empire style, not because it came from imperial vaults.
The history of this tiara is a bit mysterious, with many theories tracing it back to Romanov Russia. Currently, it’s now said to be a wedding gift for Pauline of Württemberg, who married Wilhelm, Duke of Nassau, in 1829.
- The tiara was created in the early 1800’s. Grand Duchess Charlotte wore the tiara on her wedding day in 1919. The tiara was inherited by Grand Duchess Josephine after the accession of her husband, in 1964. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa has been the owner of the tiara since 2000.
